Resident Evil remake development and unexpected details of Resident Evil 9: Capcom will surprise fans of the franchise, it has been revealed

More and more information about the new (ninth) part of Resident Evil is appearing online.

Usually it comes from Dusk Golem, but this time exclusive information was shared by Arabic portal PRE_Alarabiya.

Here's What We Know

PRE_Alarabiya journalists claim to have information from a "special source" who told them some interesting things not only about Resident Evil 9, but also about the surprise Capcom has in store for fans of the franchise for 2026.

PRE_Alarabiya confirms Dusk Golem's information that the events of Resident Evil 9 will unfold on a tropical island in Southeast Asia, and supplements it with the nuance that the location and main characters will change as the story progresses.

Moreover, the protagonist of Resident Evil IX prologue will be fan favourite Leon Kennedy, who will be 48 years old at the time of the game's events (summer 2025). However, the authors later clarified that Kennedy will also appear in the rest of the horror game's events.

As for the surprise, the source PRE_Alarabiya is not sure yet, but heard that in honour of the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, which will take place in 2026, Capcom intends to release a full remake of the first part of the series, which will be similar to the remakes of the second, third and fourth parts in terms of quality of performance and general concept.

When We Can Expect It

According to unconfirmed information from Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 is expected to be released in January 2025.
