Ubisoft has officially announced changes to the Japanese version of Assassin's Creed Shadows, which will be released on 20 March 2025. Despite the 18+ age restriction, the game had to be adapted to local standards.

Here's What We Know

The main changes will affect graphic content. The ability to show dismemberment of enemies will be completely removed from the Japanese version. The developers will permanently disable the dismemberment option and change the display of damaged bodies.

In addition, some dialogues in Japanese will be changed. Ubisoft did not specify the details of the language changes.

The decision is related to the rules of the Japanese game review board CERO, which imposes particularly strict requirements for the depiction of violence. Earlier, even the Dead Space game was not released in the country due to similar restrictions.
