Electronic Arts has announced the acquisition of TRACAB Technologies, a leader in optical tracking and sports analytics. The acquisition is aimed at bringing cutting-edge technology to the EA Sports FC series, which EA says will lead to "revolutionary innovations" in future games.

Here's What We Know

TRACAB Technologies is known for its ability to capture almost everything that happens on the field at 60Hz, generating 600 million data points per game. This includes 65 unique parameters for each player and referee, including tracking 21 joints on the body, the centre of mass, and the movement of the ball.

Previously, EA used tracking technologies to recreate the real movements of players in its games. For example, the company scanned Manchester City matches to accurately capture the unique running style of Erling Holland. With the acquisition of TRACAB, EA plans to take this level of realism to new heights.

It is not yet known whether this technology will be implemented in the next game in the series, EA Sports FC 26, which is expected to be released in late September.
