Mercedes-Benz will present the Arocs 4042 AS 6x6 army tractor at IDEX 2025

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, a division of Daimler Truck, has revealed information about the Arocs 4042 AS 6x6 army truck. The vehicle has a three-axle configuration, a 12.8-litre diesel engine and a gross combination weight of up to 250 tonnes. The public presentation of the Arocs 4042 AS 6x6 will take place at the IDEX 2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, which will be held from 17 to 21 February.

What is known

The Arocs 4042 AS 6×6 is a multi-purpose army tractor designed to transport wheeled and tracked vehicles, including tanks and combat vehicles. It is also equipped with a transport and loading system with a double winch that can pull damaged and broken equipment onto a low-bed trailer.

Main features:

  • Dimensions: 8.2 metres long, 2.5 metres wide, 3.5 metres high
  • Wheelbase: 4.2 metres
  • Permissible GVW: 40 tonnes (9 tonnes on front axle, 16 tonnes on rear axles)
  • Total towing weight: 250 tonnes

This model has a sunroof, infinitely variable tyre pressure monitoring system and cloaking headlights to minimise visibility during night driving.

The Arocs 4042 AS 6x6 will be presented at IDEX with the OM 460 inline six-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 12.8 litres. It delivers 310 kW (421 hp) and is paired with a 12-speed Powershift 3 automatic transmission, which also has a manual mode. The same powertrain is fitted to the Zetros range of vehicles.
