Latvia's Defence Ministry clarifies that it will send 42 Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine this year

This year, Latvia will provide Ukraine with 42 Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carriers, most of which will be brand new.
Here's What We Know
The supply will be carried out by SIA Defence Partnership Latvia. The Ministry of Defence assured that this will not affect the ordering and supply of armoured vehicles for the Latvian army.
Latvian Defence Minister Andris Spruds said that the country continues to support Ukraine, including through the purchase and financing of weapons. He noted that the purchase of equipment in Latvia simultaneously helps the Ukrainian Armed Forces and strengthens the local defence industry.

In addition to armoured vehicles, in January, Latvia handed over 1,161 drones to Ukraine as part of an international coalition. In total, in 2024, Ukraine will receive about 5,000 Latvian combat drones of various types, and deliveries will continue throughout the year.
Last year, Latvia's military assistance to Ukraine exceeded EUR 100 million, which is more than 0.25% of the country's GDP. The same amount is foreseen for 2024-2025, making Latvia one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine.
