The famous French voice actress Pascale Chemin, who voiced Wraith in Apex Legends, announced that the entire team of actors refused to sign an agreement allowing their voices to be used for training generative AI.

Here's What We Know

The problem of using artificial intelligence in the creative industry is becoming more and more relevant. Actors, artists, and creators are suffering from the threat posed by AI, especially in the field of voice acting. Pascal shared a statement saying that a publisher (likely EA) sent the cast a confidential document whose terms were unacceptable.

The agreement stipulated that their voices would be used to train AI, which could lead to the loss of their jobs. All 32 French actors unanimously refused to sign the document and sent a collective letter of refusal to EA.

It also noted that in the context of limited employment opportunities for actors, it was unacceptable to agree to such terms. At the time of writing, EA has not yet commented on the situation, and it is unknown whether Apex Legends actors from other countries have been invited to sign a similar agreement.
