A mix of Dark Souls and God of War: journalists shared their first impressions of the unusual action-RPG Blades of Fire

Journalists of major gaming portals published the first previews of the action-RPG Blades of Fire from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread from MercurySteam studio. The game was The official announcement of the action-RPG Blades of Fire from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread has been made. ago and now its details are known.
Here's What We Know
The authors of the preview got acquainted with the Blades of Fire demo and noted that its concept looks fresh and may interest fans of role-playing action games.
From the point of view of combat system the game reminds Dark Souls - it is expressed both in high complexity, and in a large number of opportunities and a wide choice of weapons, and after each hero's rest at the fire, as in the Japanese series, most of the enemies are revived.
The structure of the locations resembles modern God of War parts: players will get into semi-open spacious zones and will gradually discover new passages and ways to interact with the environment. The similarity with God of War is also evident in the plot: the sullen and taciturn protagonist, together with a young and energetic companion, embarks on a dangerous journey to achieve his goal.
The main feature of Blades of Fire is a detailed and in-depth weapon forging system: players will be able to customise every detail of an individual blade and thus change its characteristics, weight and damage. However, journalists noted that in the demo this system is implemented as a mini-game, which does not trace the relationship between the player's actions and the final result.
According to the developers' claims, Blades of Fire will take 60-70 hours to complete, but the authors of the preview are not sure that the game designers will have enough creativity to make such a long game interesting and full of content.
Stylistically Blades of Fire reminds Blizzard games: it has somewhat cartoonish graphics, characters look exaggeratedly large, and castle walls are incredibly thick, but in general everything looks interesting and harmonious.
In general, the journalists speak favourably about Blades of Fire and note that it can offer an interesting look at the currently stagnating action-RPG genre.
