Kojima Productions has unveiled a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach during a panel at SXSW 2025, confirming the game's release date on PlayStation 5 - 26 June 2025.

Here's What We Know

The trailer, which lasts about 10 minutes, shows new elements of the game and the return of familiar characters. Norman Reedus will reprise his role as Sam Bridges, and he will be joined by Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker, who will return to their roles. New faces to the cast include Ellie Fanning,
Kutsuna Shiori and George Miller.

The trailer also contains references to Kojima's previous games, including Metal Gear Solid. One of the characters, Neil, resembles Solid Snake, and the huge creature from the trailer evokes associations with Metal Gear Rex. However, the trailer is so cool that there is no point in describing it and it is better to watch it yourself.

Kojima noted that his experience during the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the game's script, which was rewritten after these events.

Death Stranding 2 is a sequel to Hideo Kojima's unique action game that promises an even stranger, more exciting and emotional world. The game once again takes us to a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is divided and the connection between people is a matter of survival.

The protagonist Sam Bridges (Norman Reedus) returns to embark on a dangerous journey once again. But now he is facing new challenges, mysterious enemies, and even more complex dilemmas.

Expect improved gameplay, cinematic presentation, and even more of Kojima's strange ideas that go beyond conventional video games.
