SAG-AFTRA video game actors' strike continues as AI issues remain unresolved

The SAG-AFTRA strike covering video game voice actors will continue as the latest round of negotiations failed to reach a deal.
Here's What We Know
The union's chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said that although some issues were agreed upon, key problems, especially the use of artificial intelligence, remain unresolved. According to him, the conditions proposed by the studios allow companies to use digital copies of actors without consent and compensation, as well as to use archival recordings without any control from the performers.
Crabtree-Irland also criticised the studios' attempts to create the illusion that a deal was almost reached, considering it a tactic aimed at splitting the union.
Industry representatives, in turn, insist that the proposed agreement provides for a 15% pay rise, improved safety conditions and clearly defined rules for the use of AI. Despite the continuation of the strike, more than 160 studios have already signed independent agreements, which indicates that it is possible to ensure fair conditions for actors, even despite the resistance of large companies.
