Adaptive high beam is now available for Tesla vehicles in the US and Canada

Tesla has activated the adaptive high beam feature for cars in North America as part of another software update.
Here's What We Know
Back last year, Tesla added adaptive road lighting to its cars. Back then, only European-spec models got it, but now the feature is available for cars in North America as well.
Adaptive high beam will work in the U.S. and Canada after installation of firmware 2024.2. However, not all Tesla owners will be able to use it - the car must be equipped with matrix headlights from the factory, which began to be installed only in 2022. Such headlights can be recognised by a single projector in the corner of the unit (example - photo below).

The updated Tesla Model Y already comes with the feature activated. Other compatible models will get it via over-the-air update (OTA).
Adaptive headlights work by controlling the individual pixels of the light beam, dimming areas of the road where other road users are. This ensures good visibility at night without blinding oncoming cars and pedestrians.
What else is included in Tesla 2025's "spring" update:
- Blind Spot Camera on Driver Screen - displaying the blind spot camera image on the dashboard when the indicator is activated. The feature is only available on the updated Model S and Model X.
- Lane Departure Avoidance for Cybertruck - a visual alert on the screen when you accidentally cross a lane marking line. Also added is the ability to save the desired front boot opening height based on location.
- For Model 3, Model Y, Model X and Model S, it is now possible to customise the opening height of the rear boot lid/door so that it does not hit the ceiling in tight spaces.
- Keep Accessory Power On - the ability to leave USB ports, inductive charging and 12-volt outlets on after the vehicle's locks have been locked if the remaining high-voltage battery charge exceeds 20 per cent. Previously, this was only possible when Camp Mode was activated, which was frustrating for owners.
Other improvements:
- switching languages on the keyboard
- ability to avoid motorways when plotting a route
- recording and viewing video from side cameras
