Apple is preparing to unveil the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, which will debut alongside the new iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.

Here's What We Know

Unbox Therapy's Lewis Hilsenteger has revealed newer mockups that give a better idea of what this ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air will look like.

According to forecasts, the iPhone 17 Air will be about 5.5 mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone to date. In comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro is likely to be around 8.7 mm thick.

An insider noted the extreme thinness of the iPhone 17 Air, suggesting that the device may have a tendency to bend due to its minimalist design. According to rumours, Apple will use a titanium-aluminium body to ensure durability and prevent it from bending. This is important, because after the iPhone 6 Plus incident in 2014, when the smartphone broke in a pocket, the company is careful about the strength of its models.

Apple also decided to limit the display size of the iPhone 17 Air to 6.6 inches, fearing that a larger screen would make the device more prone to deformation. Initially, a 6.9-inch display was planned, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

As for battery life, the presenter expressed concerns about the device's slim design. However, Apple was able to optimise the space by removing unnecessary cameras and used an efficient C1 modem and optimised software, which will keep the battery life on par with existing models.
