Meizu was planning to present Note 16 smartphones back in April, but the release was postponed until May. Photos and some specifications of the device have already appeared online.

Here's What We Know

The published photos of Meizu Note 16 show a flat screen and a camera placed in a separate unit with gold accents. The back panel is made of orange leather, reminiscent of the design of the Honor Magic 7 models. Although the photo shows that the smartphone has three cameras, there are actually only two of them: a 50MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera.

The Meizu Note 16 will have a 6.78-inch LCD screen with FHD+ resolution (2460 x 1080 pixels), an 8-megapixel front camera, and a Unisoc T765 chipset with 5G support. The device can get 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. It will be equipped with a 6550 mAh battery with 40W fast charging support.

Despite the specs, many expected more innovations from the Meizu Note 16, given the delayed release. Since Meizu became part of Geely through DreamSmart Meizu, the company has begun to focus more on car technology, which has affected the development of mobile devices.

The device's price of 999 yuan (~$140) will make it affordable, but it may not attract much attention in the highly competitive smartphone market.

Meizu has recently confirmed that its flagship Meizu 22 series will be unveiled in the summer.
