Google Pixel 8 survives four days in hot water and still works
The story, which became a real test for the Google Pixel 8 smartphone, showed what this model is capable of. The owner of the phone, a Polish citizen, accidentally dropped his Pixel 8 into a hot bath while celebrating May Day at Airbnb.

He was so drunk that he lost his phone on the first day of the holiday. With the help of his work colleagues, the Pole searched everywhere for his missing Pixel 8, but found nothing. Days passed, and the owner had almost resigned himself to the loss of his gadget.
Only on the fifth day did he receive a video from the landlord. It turned out that the phone had been found in a hot bath, where it had been lying for four days at a water temperature of 45°C (113°F).

The surprised man decided to check if the smartphone was still working after such an extreme test. To his surprise, after recharging, the Pixel 8 switched on without any problems and worked fine.
The owner of the Pixel 8 on Reddit advised to rinse the phone with distilled water to get rid of any chlorine residue and put it in a box with silica gel to absorb water. He noted that his phone had survived a fall into a swimming pool thanks to its IP68 rating and the fact that it had only been in use for six months.
In January, Google shared the details of the durability testing process for its Pixel smartphones. In a blog post, the company described how its product engineering team ensures that the devices can withstand daily use and damage.
