Apple has officially unveiled watchOS 11.5, the fifth major update to the Apple Watch operating system. The update became available on 12 May 2025 and supports Apple Watch Series 6 and later, all Apple Watch Ultra models, and Apple Watch SE 2nd generation.

Here's What We Know

One of the main novelties is the introduction of the Pride Harmony holiday watch face dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. It has a colourful design and syncs with user gestures to form an animated rainbow on the screen.

Other innovations include the ability to make purchases in the Apple TV app on third-party devices using the watch. This adds even more convenience for users who value the Apple ecosystem.

The update also fixes a bug that sometimes prevented the iPhone from showing a notification when the Apple Watch was fully charged.

The update can be installed through the Apple Watch app on iPhone by going to the General, Software Update section. To install, you need to have at least 50% battery power and the device is charging.

Recently, the new Pope Leo XIV appeared in public with an Apple Watch. This is not the first time the Pope has appeared with this device. As noted by columnist Nick Gould, Leo XIV wore an Apple Watch even before he was elected, when he was a cardinal. There were also reports of another watch that partially peeked out from under his clothes during a public speech.
