Problems with access to X: more than 5 thousand users report failure

The social media platform X is currently inaccessible to many users due to a large-scale data centre outage. According to the DownDetector service, more than 5,000 users have reported problems accessing the platform as of 16:00 Eastern Time.
Here's What We Know
The official account of X's engineering department confirmed that the outage was caused by a failure in one of the data centres, and the team is actively working to fix the problem.
This is not the first serious incident on the platform - the last major failure occurred in March 2025. At the time, X CEO Elon Musk blamed the outage on a "massive cyberattack". However, security researchers who investigated the incident said that it was caused by the company's lax security measures, which left the servers vulnerable to attack.
X is aware some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data centre outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue.

As of 6:30pm ET, the number of complaints about the platform has decreased, but issues remain. There have been no recent updates from the X engineering team, which is causing concern among users.
Additionally, Wired reported a fire in a data centre rented by Elon Musk in Hillsboro, Oregon. It has not yet been confirmed whether the fire is related to the current platform outages.
Users are advised to follow official X messages for the latest information on the service's resumption.
We would like to remind you that OpenAI is working on its own social network similar to X. Neither the name nor the final concept is known yet.
