Capcom's timing: Resident Evil 9 could have been an open-world multiplayer game
Well-known insider Dusk Golem has shared some interesting information about Resident Evil 9. Earlier he told that it will be an unusually ambitious horror that will take the cult franchise to a new level, but it turned out that the original concept of the game could turn out to be a catastrophic failure.

Dusk Golem reported that Capcom planned to make Resident Evil IX an open-world multiplayer game set on a fictional island in southeast Asia, with Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine as the main characters.
The insider explained that development on the game began in 2017, right after the release of Resident Evil 7. Now The grand success of Monster Hunter Wilds and sustained interest in Resident Evil: Capcom has updated its list of "platinum games", but at that time the launch sales of the famous horror game disappointed Capcom and the company considered that the reason for this was small corridor locations and low dynamics of gameplay, so it was decided to radically change the concept of the game for the ninth part.
