BMW has unveiled the Speedtop - a limited edition shooting brake with a V8 engine

BMW has released photos and the first information about the new Speedtop car. If the name sounds familiar, it's because this unusual station wagon is based on last year's concept. It is built on the same base as the Skytop and has a similar front end with a shark nose, matching light sources and an illuminated grille.
Here's What We Know
The Speedtop's roof is covered in a subtle colour gradient, with a burgundy Sunstone Maroon colour transitioning to a Sundown Silver hue at the rear. The centre 'spline' element flows over the bonnet, roof and spoiler, while special two-tone 14-spoke wheels fill the wheel arches - they have been designed specifically for this car.

The interior is finished in two-tone leather in Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White, with the same Sunstone Maroon colour carried over to some elements of the interior. In addition, the 'spline' detail from the exterior is carried over to the interior in the form of a light beam projected onto the two-tone leather upholstery.

The same leather and backlighting elements make their way into the boot. By the way, the Speedtop will come with customised Schedoni bags.

The best part is that the Speedtop will be able to drive on regular roads. BMW isn't revealing all the details yet, but claims that the Speedtop is powered by the brand's most powerful V8 engine to date. It's likely to be a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 620bhp like the Skytop.
BMW will build 70 examples of this station wagon for its wealthiest customers. The public premiere of the novelty will take place next weekend at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy.
