Google launches Gemini Live for all users with camera and screen streaming

Google has officially announced that Gemini Live's camera and screen streaming features are now available for all Android and iOS users, including those who use the free version.
Here's What We Know
These features are based on the Astra project, which Google first showed at I/O 2024. The feature first appeared on the flagship Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25, and later became available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. In April, the company announced the extension for users of the free version of Android, and at I/O 2025, it confirmed the launch for iOS.
How To Switch It On
To use the new features, just open the Gemini app on your smartphone and click the Live icon in the lower right corner. In the new full-screen interface, you will see buttons to activate the camera or broadcast your screen. On Android, you can also access the "Share screen with Live" option in the Gemini overlay.
The ability to share your camera screen in Gemini Live is now available to all Gemini users on Android iOS.

To get started:
1️⃣ Open the Gemini app on your mobile device
2️⃣ Tap the Gemini Live icon
3️⃣ Tap the camera or screen share icon start talking about anything you see
System-level confirmation is required to start screen sharing. After that, you can show Gemini any app or website and ask questions. You can end the broadcast with one click in the top corner of the screen.

During a camera broadcast, the image seen by the camera appears on the screen. If necessary, you can switch to the front camera. The video is only transmitted when the Gemini app is open - if you close it or turn off the screen, the stream stops.
Soon Gemini Live will be able to use other apps to perform actions, such as creating events in Google Calendar or searching for places in Maps. Google Calendar, Keep, Maps, and Tasks will be the first to be supported.
