Performance monster: Qualcomm tests flagship Snapdragon X2 Elite ARM chip with 18 cores and 64GB of RAM

Qualcomm is preparing a new ARM chip for laptops, which will be a real performance monster - this was reported by insider Roland Quandt.

Here's What We Know

According to Quandt, Qualcomm is actively testing a new chipset with the index SC8480XP. Most likely underneath is the flagship Snapdragon X2 Elite designed for Windows laptops.

The insider revealed that the top-end configuration of the processor will get at least 18 cores and 64GB of RAM, while it will come in SiP (System-in-Package) format, when all components, including memory, are packed in one case and there is no provision for upgrading on the part of the user.

The flagship Snapdragon X2 Elite is expected to be announced at the Snapdragon Summit event on 23 September.
