The first foldable iPhone may be delayed until 2027 — Apple has yet to finalize the main characteristics of the device
Analysts and insiders have repeatedly reported that in 2026 Apple will release the first foldable iPhone model, and materials, suppliers, estimated price, and some features of the gadget were mentioned in confirmation of this information.
But now there's information that the American corporation may have slightly different plans.
What is known
Japanese investment company Mizuho Securities has data suggesting that a foldable iPhone will not be released before the spring of 2027. The fact is that Apple has not yet approved some nuances of the design, such as the hinge (although it was previously reported that it will be made of liquid metal), which means they won't be able to release the new product in the fall of 2026.
Sources at Mizuho Securities claim that Apple has adjusted its plans for manufacturing displays for the iPhone Fold from 13 to 9 million units. In case the smartphone is still released in 2026, the number of devices will be 5-7 million less than the panels prepared for them.
Additionally, the base iPhone 18 is also planned to be moved to the spring of 2027, where it will launch simultaneously with the iPhone 18e. But the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max models will be released, as always, in the fall of 2026. Information about such a split in releases has already appeared earlier.
