Microsoft is officially ending the operation of the simplified version of the Outlook Lite mail client. As confirmed by the company to TechCrunch, the application will be completely shut down on May 26.

What is known

Outlook Lite was launched in 2022 as a lightweight alternative to the main Microsoft Outlook. The app was intended for smartphones with limited memory based on Android, as well as for users in regions with slow internet. Thanks to optimization, it took up less space and consumed fewer resources.

The plans to discontinue the service were reported last year: Microsoft then announced that the application would be removed from the Google Play Store in October 2025. The company has now clarified that by the end of May 2026, Outlook Lite will completely lose functionality even for those who have already installed it on their devices.

Microsoft notes that users are recommended to switch to the standard Outlook Mobile client to continue using email. After signing into the account in the new app, all emails, calendars, and attachments will be preserved.
