The Epic Games Store has launched another free giveaway, and this time it is not aimed at a narrow audience and will appeal to many gamers.

The store offers the stealth strategy The Stone of Madness from the Spanish studio The Game Kitchen — the creator of the two dark Metroidvanias Blasphemous (1 and 2).

What is Known

Until the evening of April 23, everyone can get an unusual game, executed in the style of paintings by artist Francisco De Goya.

The plot of The Stone of Madness, set in the 18th century during the Inquisition, revolves around five previously unrelated prisoners in a prison in the Pyrenees.

The player must help the prisoners escape from the prison, which requires solving puzzles, finding clues, skillfully planning all actions, and switching between characters to use their unique abilities.

An interesting nuance of The Stone of Madness is the possibility of deteriorating the mental state of characters, and the player needs to control the mental health of the protagonists to prevent them from panicking and maintain their sanity.

The game offers two story campaigns with unique goals and objectives.

The Stone of Madness was released in 2025 and received good reviews from gamers and critics, although it did not enter the mainstream.
