Google is expanding access to the integrated Gemini chatbot in the Chrome browser. After launching in the US, the feature is starting to appear in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. Earlier this year, the tool also became available in Canada, India, and New Zealand.

What is known

Gemini is integrated into Chrome as a sidebar that can be opened from any tab. All you need to do is click the "Ask Gemini" icon in the upper right corner. After that, the user gets access to a chat interface that works over open pages and allows for quick interaction with content.

In addition to text chat, the feature includes access to the internal image generator Nano Banana 2, as well as integration with other Google services. For example, you can add events to Google Calendar without switching between tabs.

In most new countries, Gemini is available in the browser on computers as well as on iPhone and iPad. The exception at the moment is Japan, where iOS support has not been launched yet.

If the user does not plan to use Gemini, the icon can be removed from the interface — just right-click and unpin it.
