Amazon announced a new investment in Anthropic, which could total $25 billion. Initially, the company will invest $5 billion, with up to an additional $20 billion foreseen as extra payments contingent upon achieving certain results.

What is known

This is already the third major funding of Anthropic by Amazon: in 2023, the company invested $4 billion, and another $4 billion in 2024.

Under the new agreement, Anthropic will continue to use Amazon's infrastructure, including its own Trainium chips for training artificial intelligence models, as well as Amazon Web Services. The company plans to spend more than $100 billion on AWS technologies over the next 10 years.

The deal also includes the provision of up to 5 GW of computing power for training and operating Anthropic models. The Claude platform will be integrated into AWS and will become available to clients through a single interface without additional authorization.
