Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro leak: bigger batteries, better chips, and a steep price jump

The Xiaomi 17T series is shaping up to be a meaningful upgrade — but it will cost significantly more. According to a leak from French insider billbil-kun via Dealabs, the 17T Pro will launch in Europe at around €999 for the 12GB/512GB model, up from €749 for the 15T Pro. That's a 33% price increase that pushes the T-series out of "affordable flagship" territory and into direct competition with Samsung and Google at the premium end.

The specs

Both phones get new MediaTek chips: the standard 17T runs a Dimensity 8500-Ultra, while the Pro steps up to the Dimensity 9500 — Geekbench filings have already confirmed both. Battery capacity jumps substantially across the range, to 6,500mAh on the 17T and 7,000mAh on the 17T Pro, up from 5,500mAh in last year's models. The Pro also gets faster 100W wired charging, compared to 90W on the 15T Pro.

The triple Leica camera system carries over, but with upgrades. The standard 17T gains a proper 5x optical zoom lens, and the Pro swaps in Xiaomi's newer Light Fusion 950 main sensor in place of the Light Fusion 900 found in the 15T Pro. Screen sizes shift slightly: the 17T shrinks to a 6.59-inch 1.5K display (down from 6.83 inches), while the Pro holds steady at 6.83 inches. All three colour options — blue, black, and violet — are shared across both models.

Price and availability

The standard 17T is expected at €749 for 12GB/256GB, with a 512GB version likely landing between €799 and €849. At those prices, the T-series now sits alongside the Pixel 9a Pro and competes closer to Samsung's Galaxy S-lite tier than the mid-range budget phones it once undercut.

For UK and US buyers, there's no confirmed launch plan yet. Tech Advisor estimates a UK price around £865 for the Pro, though Xiaomi UK has made no official announcement. Grey market and EU retailer imports remain the most likely route if the phones don't get a direct UK rollout.

A release in May 2026 has been widely reported — several months ahead of the traditional September window Xiaomi has used for the T-series — though no official date has been confirmed. The Geekbench appearance suggests the hardware is close to final, so an announcement could come soon.
