Xiaomi has officially launched the 17T and 17T Pro, and for the first time in the T-series, both phones carry Leica Summilux optics — including a 5x periscope telephoto that was previously reserved for the Ultra line. The base 17T starts at €749 (roughly £799), while the 17T Pro lands at €999 (roughly £999), a sharp £200 jump over the 15T Pro. That puts it in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Apple iPhone 17, not the mid-range.

The camera upgrade

Every lens on both phones carries Leica branding. The triple-camera system includes a 50MP main sensor — Light Fusion 950 (ƒ/1.67) on the Pro, Light Fusion 800 (ƒ/1.7) on the standard — a 50MP periscope telephoto at 115mm with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 12MP ultrawide with a 120° field of view. The previous 15T managed only a 2x telephoto with no Leica optics on the base model, so this is a meaningful step up across the board.

AI Ultra Zoom pushes digital reach to 120x, and a macro mode lets you shoot as close as 30cm. The Pro adds 8K video recording and cinematic 4K seamless zoom; the standard model tops out at 4K/120fps.

Two sizes, bigger batteries

Xiaomi has also separated the two phones by size for the first time. The 17T uses a flat 6.59-inch OLED display at 120Hz, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra. The 17T Pro steps up to a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel at 144Hz running on the Dimensity 9500, a 3nm flagship chip. Both are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and ship with Android 16 under Xiaomi's HyperOS 3.

Battery capacity has grown significantly thanks to silicon-carbon cells. The 17T carries a 6,500mAh battery with 67W wired charging; the Pro gets 7,000mAh with 100W wired and 50W wireless. For context, most Android flagships in this price range still sit around 5,000mAh.

Pricing and availability

The 17T comes in black, blue, and purple starting at €749 for 12GB/256GB. The 17T Pro (black, blue, purple, and white opal) starts at €999 for 12GB/512GB, with a 1TB configuration at €1,099. Early buyers get Redmi Headphones Neo or a Xiaomi Smart Band 10 bundled in.

Per TechRadar review, UK pricing aligns to £799 and £999 respectively, though major retailer stock — Amazon UK, John Lewis, Currys — has not been confirmed yet. Expect a five-to-six week lag after the EU rollout. The phones are not officially available in the US through Xiaomi's own channels. At €999, as Gagadget EN notes, the Pro sits uncomfortably close to Samsung's and Apple's top-tier offers — but the Leica telephoto system and 7,000mAh battery give it a harder case to make than previous T-series generations.
