Marvel's Wolverine gets seven minutes of brutal gameplay — out September 15
Insomniac Games showed seven minutes of new Marvel's Wolverine footage at Sony's State of Play on June 2, confirming a September 15, 2026 launch date exclusively on PS5. The gameplay clip is the clearest look yet at how Insomniac plans to separate Wolverine from its Spider-Man series — and the answer is a lot of blood.
The look
Where Spider-Man skews teen-friendly, Wolverine goes hard in the other direction. Logan shreds enemies with his adamantium claws, his clothes soaking through with blood after every fight. The combat is third-person action — familiar territory for Insomniac — mixing combo attacks and special abilities with platforming sections and light puzzles between brawls. The tone lands closer to Fox's Logan than anything in the current MCU.
The story
The setup: Logan rejoins Team X after mutants are kidnapped by Bolivar Trask. The gameplay footage teases Jean Grey, Sabretooth, and Mystique, with locations spanning Canada, Tokyo, and Madripoor. Insomniac has confirmed this is the first entry in a planned X-Men trilogy, following the same long-term franchise model the studio built with Spider-Man and Miles Morales.
Price and pre-orders
The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK — consistent with current PS5 AAA pricing. A Digital Deluxe Edition runs $79.99 / £79.99 and adds the Classic Brown suit, Reflective Claws, and one bonus Technique Point. Pre-orders are live now via PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, Amazon, and GameStop, per the PlayStation Blog (June 2, 2026).
The PlayStation US Store confirms PS5 Pro enhancement via PSSR upscaling, and there is no PS4 version. The ESRB rating is still listed as pending, though the footage makes a Mature classification almost certain. No PC port or exclusivity end date has been announced.
September 15 keeps Wolverine clear of the fall window crowding — GTA VI is expected in November — giving Sony a clean run at the pre-holiday market with one of its highest-profile exclusives in years.
