Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is still coming to Switch 2 in 2026, says insider

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, one of the most awarded games in history, is reportedly heading to Nintendo Switch 2 before the end of 2026. Insider NateTheHate — who correctly predicted the Switch 2's announcement, an Ocarina of Time remake, and a Star Fox 64 remake — reaffirmed the claim on June 15 after a fan questioned him on X. Sandfall Interactive has not made any official announcement.

The claim

NateTheHate first floated the Switch 2 port back in January 2026. When the game went unmentioned at a recent Nintendo Direct, some fans wrote the idea off. The insider pushed back, stating he stands by the 2026 window. His track record on Nintendo announcements gives the claim more weight than a typical rumor — he also correctly called the Switch 2 port of Metaphor: ReFantazio — but no release window within 2026 has been specified.

Sandfall has stayed completely silent on the matter. Without an official word on resolution targets, frame rate, or even a rough release quarter, the technical feasibility remains an open question for a game of this visual ambition running on Switch 2 hardware.

Why it matters

Clair Obscur sold 8 million copies by April 2026, a remarkable figure for a debut game built on a reported budget of just €10 million — a fraction of what major studios spend. For context, Gears of War: E-Day reportedly cost $400 million and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 around $330 million. The game swept more than 500 Game of the Year awards, making it only the second title after Baldur's Gate 3 to win all five major GOTY prizes.

A Switch 2 port would push those sales numbers higher and bring the game to an audience that skews toward Nintendo's hybrid console rather than PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC — the three platforms where it currently lives. The game is also on Xbox Game Pass, which hints at a broad multi-platform strategy from Sandfall, even if a Nintendo deal hasn't been announced yet.

Until Sandfall or Nintendo makes something official, the 2026 Switch 2 port stays in the credible-but-unconfirmed category. per GamesRadar, the insider is standing firm.
