HMD Skyline 2 leak reveals 144 Hz OLED, Qi2 charging, and a dedicated camera button
If you bought last year's HMD Skyline and wondered whether a sequel was coming, a credible leak suggests the answer is yes — and sooner than expected. Leaker smashx_60, who has a solid track record on HMD devices, posted what appear to be the core specs of the HMD Skyline 2. The headline upgrades are a brighter OLED display, a faster chipset, and Qi2 magnetic wireless charging — all at a price that's expected to stay in the $399–$499 range based on the original's GSMArena: HMD Skyline specs.
The upgrades
The display steps up to 144 Hz and 2,000 nits peak brightness — double the 1,000 nits on the original Skyline. The chipset moves from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a shift that 91Mobiles: Snapdragon Gen comparison puts at roughly 38% better performance in benchmark scores. That's a real gain, though the 7s Gen 4 is still a mid-tier chip in a 2025 landscape where flagships run the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The camera system gets a 108MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) paired with a 50MP ultrawide. That's a notable step up from the Skyline's more modest setup. A dedicated hardware camera button also makes the cut — a detail that sets the Skyline 2 apart from most Android phones at this price.
Charging moves from 33W wired to 40W, while Qi2 magnetic wireless charging carries over as a key differentiator. The original Skyline was the first mid-range Android to include built-in magnets for wireless charging — a genuine first for the segment. USB-C 3.2 and stereo speakers round out the feature list.

What this means at that price
The Skyline 2 lands in crowded territory. The Samsung Galaxy A series and Google's Pixel 8a both sit near the same price point and offer strong software support and wider retail availability. HMD's bet is that Qi2, the camera button, and a clean software experience give it an edge that raw spec comparisons don't capture.
No official launch date exists yet. The leak points to July 2025, roughly one year after the original Skyline shipped — but HMD hasn't confirmed pricing, availability, or even the device's screen size. Treat these specs as a strong rumor, not a press release.
