Dispatch hits Xbox Series X|S on July 29 — the superhero comedy that sold 4 million copies

Dispatch, the choice-driven superhero comedy that sold over 4 million copies since its October 2025 debut, lands on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC on July 29, 2026. The game — already on PS5 and Nintendo Switch — now covers every major platform. It supports Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming, meaning one purchase works across console and PC with shared saves.

The game

Dispatch comes from AdHoc Studio, founded by veterans of Telltale Games. The setup follows Robert Robertson III, a.k.a. Mecha-Man — a disgraced superhero who, after a humiliating defeat, takes a desk job dispatching other heroes on missions. Players manage assignments, make dialogue choices during cinematic scenes, and watch consequences ripple across the story.

The voice cast is a genuine draw. Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) leads as the main character, joined by Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II), Jeffrey Wright (The Batman), Matthew Mercer (Critical Role), and Erin Yvette (The Wolf Among Us). The tone sits somewhere between a workplace comedy and a superhero satire — absurd situations, dark humor, and relationships that shift based on your decisions.

Critics responded well: Dispatch holds an 87 on OpenCritic with a 97% critic recommendation rate, and Steam reviews sit at 96–97% positive across more than 170,000 ratings.

What's new for Xbox

The Xbox version ships with the June 2026 HR Violations update already included — that patch restored content that had been censored on the Nintendo Switch release. So Xbox players get the complete, unaltered game from day one.

Xbox Game Pass status remains unconfirmed. Microsoft and AdHoc Studio have not announced whether Dispatch will enter the Game Pass catalog, despite the game's scale. At $29.99 on Steam and around £28.99–£29.99 on PlayStation Store, it's a mid-tier price for a game with strong replay potential.

What's next

AdHoc Studio has hinted at franchise expansion beyond the first season. A Comic-Con San Diego panel on July 24 — five days before the Xbox launch — features Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham, and is expected to tease what comes next. Dispatch Season 2 is pending, with no release window announced.
