Edifier R1000TC II: budget desktop speakers with Bluetooth 6.0 and a built-in USB sound card
Edifier has announced the R1000TC II, a second-generation update to its long-running budget desktop speaker that adds Bluetooth 6.0, a built-in USB sound card, and app-based EQ — all for 399 yuan ($58) at launch on JD.com in China. The predecessor sold in the UK for around £50–£60, so the price is squarely in affordable territory. Whether the R1000TC II arrives in the US or UK anytime soon remains unconfirmed, per Gizmochina.
The hardware
Each speaker uses a two-way driver setup: a 1-inch silk dome tweeter paired with a 4-inch composite paper woofer with a distinctive yellow finish. A Class D amplifier delivers 42W RMS total — 21W per channel — across a stated frequency range of 65 Hz to 20 kHz. The cabinet is MDF, which reduces unwanted resonance, and the front grilles are removable. Physical knobs on the right (active) speaker control overall volume plus treble and bass. The footprint is compact at 149×234×202.5mm, making it a reasonable fit on a crowded desk.

Edifier R1000TC II desktop speakers feature MDF cabinets, removable front grilles, and physical volume/tone controls on the active unit.
What's actually new
The headline addition is Bluetooth 6.0, which supports simultaneous connection to two devices — meaning you can have a laptop and a phone paired at the same time and switch between them without re-pairing. That addresses one of the most common frustrations with single-device Bluetooth speakers, though real-world performance won't be clear until independent testing arrives.
The built-in USB sound card is the other meaningful upgrade. Plug the active speaker directly into a PC via USB and you bypass your motherboard's audio entirely — no external interface needed. Traditional RCA inputs are still on the back for wired setups. The Edifier Connect app adds EQ presets, channel balance control, notification-sound muting, and over-the-air firmware updates.

The rear of the active speaker provides RCA inputs alongside the USB port that enables the built-in sound card function.
Availability and price
Right now the R1000TC II is China-only. Edifier typically takes two to six months to roll R-series models into Western markets, but no official timeline has been stated. The $58 China price is unlikely to hold in the US or UK after VAT, import costs, and retail margins — expect something closer to $75–$85 if and when it lands. Competing options at that price point include the Creative Pebble Pro and the Edifier M60. The Edifier Europe shop currently stocks older R-series models but has not listed the R1000TC II.
