Hallmark's PS1 Christmas Ornament Plays the Iconic Startup Sound for $28.99
Hallmark has added a PlayStation 1 ornament to its 2026 Keepsake line, priced at $28.99 and landing on shelves July 11. The miniature console replicates the original PS1 design — every vent, button, and curve — and comes with a scaled-down DualShock controller. It's a well-timed piece of retro merch: Sony announced it will stop producing physical discs by 2028, which has pushed interest in PS1 nostalgia sharply upward.

The sound
The headline feature is audio. Press the power button and the ornament plays the PS1 startup chime — the ascending tones that launched a thousand late-night gaming sessions in the late 1990s. Power comes from three LR44 alkaline button cells, which are included in the box. There's also a light element, making this more interactive than a standard tree decoration.
The lineup
Hallmark has been building out a gaming ornament series for a few years. Last year's equivalent was an Xbox 360 console with similar light-and-sound features. The 2026 collection also includes Nintendo, Zelda, Mario, and Pokémon ornaments, so the PS1 piece sits in well-established company. Pre-orders are already live on Amazon and Hallmark's official site, and per 9to5Toys, prior gaming ornaments have sold out before the holiday season — so if this is on your list, earlier is smarter. At $28.99, it sits in the same price bracket as the Xbox 360 ornament from last year.
