Marvel's Wolverine now has a release date and a proper look at its story: the game arrives September 15, 2026, exclusively on PS5, developed by Insomniac Games. Sony unveiled a full story trailer at San Diego Comic-Con alongside a State of Play, and it's the most complete picture yet of what the studio has been building since 2021.
The story
Logan isn't going solo. The trailer frames Wolverine's mission around rescuing captured mutants from a criminal organization exploiting them for its own ends — and untangling more of his fractured past along the way. Locations span the island nation of Madripoor, the Canadian wilderness, and the streets of Tokyo. Jean Grey from the X-Men joins him, and several familiar Marvel antagonists appear: Bolivar Trask, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, and The Hand — the same ninja clan that gave Spider-Man trouble in Insomniac's earlier games.
The tone is noticeably darker than the studio's Spider-Man titles. Combat footage shows the kind of visceral, brutal scraps that fit the character — claws-out takedowns, rage-fueled combos, and layered abilities. Between fights, Logan climbs, traverses environments, and works through light puzzles. Insomniac is building this as a linear, single-player action-adventure, not an open world.

Marvel's Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive — PlayStation Official confirms no PC version is planned. Physical disc editions are confirmed for launch, alongside the digital release.
