Marvel's Spider-Man 2 gets two free suits ahead of Brand New Day film
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 just received a free update timed to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the Tom Holland film arriving in theaters July 31. Insomniac Games released patch v1.005.000 on July 28, adding two new suits at no extra cost across PS5 and PC. If you already own the game, the suits are waiting for you right now.
The suits
The Fresh Start suit takes its design cues from Brand New Day — it's the closest you'll get to wearing the movie costume before the film even opens. The second addition is the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suit, a crossover costume tied to the upcoming arena fighter from Sony, which launches August 6 on PS5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Both suits are free on all platforms, per PlayStation Universe.
The Tōkon tie-in runs in both directions. The fighting game's Ultimate Edition ($99.99) includes its own Spider-Man costume inspired by Spider-Man 2's Advanced Suit 2.0, confirmed by PlayStation.Blog. Sony is using free content in one of the PS5's most-played games to build awareness for two separate releases inside six days.
PS5 Pro and power savings
Beyond the cosmetics, the patch adds enhanced PSSR 2.0 native support for PS5 Pro owners — an upgrade to the console's AI-based upscaling system that should deliver sharper visuals at high frame rates. All PS5 models also get a new Power Saver mode, which reduces energy consumption during play. Neither feature requires any extra purchase.
