Samsung Galaxy F70 Pro: six years of updates in a $275 phone
Samsung has launched a mid-range phone that promises six years of OS and security updates at a starting price of $275 — a combination that's hard to find anywhere in that price bracket. The Galaxy F70 Pro goes on sale in India on August 3, 2026, exclusively through Flipkart, per 91mobiles. For now, there's no UK or US release date, and Samsung's F-series has historically stayed within India — but the software commitment is worth paying attention to regardless.
The specs
The F70 Pro runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 paired with up to 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. That's a competent, if unspectacular, chipset for everyday tasks and streaming — don't expect it to handle demanding games at high settings.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display runs at FHD+ resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate. More surprising at this price: the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, a premium-tier cover glass more commonly found on flagship devices. Most phones in the $300 range settle for much less durable glass.
Battery and camera
The 6,000 mAh battery is the headline hardware feature. Samsung claims two to three days of moderate use between charges. The included charger tops out at 45W, which isn't the fastest on the market but is a meaningful step up from the 25W standard Samsung has shipped with budget phones for years.
Camera hardware is where the phone trims costs: a 50 MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 5 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP macro lens. The front camera is a 12 MP shooter with HDR. Functional, but not a selling point.
The six-year promise
Samsung India's official page confirms the F70 Pro will receive six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security patches, counted from the first global launch date. That's a policy that beats Motorola's three-year commitment and Nothing's comparable window in the under-$400 segment — and it's the same guarantee Samsung applies to its Galaxy S flagships.
The phone ships with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 out of the box. If Samsung does eventually bring the F70 Pro to Western markets, that software lifespan would make it one of the strongest value arguments in the £300–£350 tier, ahead of the OnePlus Nord 4 and Nothing Phone 4a on support alone.
Availability and pricing
India pricing runs from ₹32,999 (~$275) for the 6 GB/128 GB model to ₹41,999 (~$370) for 8 GB/256 GB. No pricing or retailer information exists for the US or UK. Given Samsung's track record with the F-series, Western availability remains uncertain — but the six-year update clock is already running from launch day.
