Internationally, the film pulled $520 million from 66 markets. China led all territories with $121 million. The UK contributed $49 million, France $26.6 million, and Spain $15.6 million. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it 90%, while audiences pushed their score to 98%. Marvel spent $309 million on marketing — a figure that now looks like a sound investment.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige called the debut "truly phenomenal," adding that the result reflects "the irresistible power of Marvel characters and the connection they continue to have with fans around the world."
