Keychron Unveils Nape Pro: The Revolutionary Trackball for Hands-Free Keyboard Use
Keychron, known for its mechanical keyboards, has released an interesting device — the Nape Pro wireless trackball, which can also perform as a hybrid macropad.
The manipulator concept was first demonstrated at the international CES exhibition earlier this year. Now the new product has officially gone on sale for $90 in black and white colors.
The key feature of the Nape Pro is its ergonomic concept. The unusual rectangular shape allows the trackball to be positioned directly under the bottom row of the keyboard. This solution is aimed at programmers, writers, and specialists working with text and code: it allows cursor control without taking hands off the keyboard.
However, the manufacturer notes the flexibility of use — the device can also be placed to the left or right of the keyboard, next to a graphic tablet, or, when using split keyboards, centered between the blocks. The only design nuance mentioned is that the rectangular case may interfere when using a wrist rest.
From a technical standpoint, the Nape Pro features a 25 mm ball, six programmable buttons, and a control dial. The device supports up to seven software layers, allowing all elements to be fully reassigned for different tasks. It is powered by a 200 mAh battery, which lasts up to 50 hours, and charges Nape Pro via USB-C. The device connects via Bluetooth 5.3 or a 2.4 GHz radio channel.
In terms of its capabilities, the Nape Pro is positioned not as a complete replacement for a traditional mouse, but as an auxiliary controller-companion, combining macropad and trackball functions.
