Activision and Infinity Ward have dropped a new campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and this time it puts Captain Price front and center. The game arrives October 23, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 — and with Black Ops 7 posting the franchise's worst sales-year ranking since 2008, Activision needs this one to land.

The mission

The new trailer spotlights a Paris-set level called Traffic. Price races through the city's streets in multiple vehicles, including an armored truck, while mixing in close-quarters gunfights along the way. It's a big-budget set piece — think car chase crossed with urban combat — and it sits alongside the broader campaign, which follows Private Park through a conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Price operates in a parallel storyline that takes the series to global locations: Paris, New York, and Mumbai all appear. The previous trailer showed the Korean front-line mission Losing Ground; Traffic shows the other side of that globetrotting story.

What's next before launch

The multiplayer side of MW4 stays under wraps for now. That changes on August 21, when the Call of Duty NEXT event goes live — Activision's annual showcase will reveal multiplayer details and kick off an early access beta the same day (August 21–25 for preorders). An open beta follows August 28 through September 1 for everyone. It's a critical public test after a bruising year for the franchise.

Preorder and availability

The official Call of Duty announcement confirms preorders are live now across the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Battle.net, and — for physical copies — retailers including GAME in the UK. Preorder customers get campaign early access from October 16, a full week before launch. Pricing has not been confirmed for any region yet. There's no PS4 or Xbox One version, so this is a clean break to current-gen hardware only.
