Google Pixel Watch 5 is official: two sizes, on-device Gemini AI, and a $50 price hike
Google's Pixel Watch 5 goes on sale August 20, and for the first time the watch comes in two sizes — 41mm and 45mm. Pre-orders are open now at the Google Store, Amazon, and Best Buy in the US, and through authorized UK retailers. Prices start at $399 / £369 for the 41mm Wi-Fi model, a $50 jump over the Watch 4, raising the stakes against Samsung's Galaxy Watch 9 that's already on shelves.
The hardware
Both sizes run Wear OS 7 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip paired with a Cortex-M55 co-processor. RAM is up 50% over the previous generation — Google says that translates to a 20% speed improvement — and storage doubles to 64GB, enough to keep offline maps, playlists, and files on your wrist without a Wi-Fi connection. The AMOLED LTPO display peaks at 3,000 nits for outdoor readability and dips to 1 nit in Always-on Display mode. The case is recycled aluminum with a custom Corning Gorilla Glass 5 lens.

Battery life climbs with the bigger model: the 41mm carries a 332 mAh cell rated for 30 hours with AoD on, while the 45mm gets a 465 mAh pack good for 40 hours. Both charge from flat to 50% in around 15 minutes via the included dock.
Gemini on your wrist
The Watch 5's headline software feature is on-device Gemini Intelligence. Raise your wrist and speak — timers, emails, workout starts — and basic commands process locally without a network connection, cutting response times noticeably. Gemini also surfaces contextual information on the watch face automatically: boarding passes, calendar events, and Wallet suggestions appear when relevant, per Android Headlines.
Dual-frequency GPS uses 3D building models and local weather data to sharpen signal in dense cities and tree cover — Google claims the accuracy beats the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, a bold claim that real-world tests will need to confirm.
Health tracking
The Watch 5 carries over ECG (for atrial fibrillation detection), SpO2, and heart rate variability monitoring. New this generation is body-response stress detection, which tracks physical signs of stress throughout the day.

Health sensors on the Pixel Watch 5 include ECG, SpO2, HRV, and new stress detection.
A software update in September 2026 will add blood pressure trend monitoring and insulin resistance indicators. In Europe and the UK, Breathing Emergency Detection will also debut: the watch monitors for a critical drop in blood oxygen and automatically calls emergency services if you don't respond, per Tech Advisor.
