Honor has overtaken Xiaomi and Apple in the Chinese market, but there's no proof

Honor managed to beat not only Huawei, but also Xiaomi along with Apple in the Chinese smartphone market. True, there is a nuance.

What happened?

The publication China Daily, citing the analytical agency Cinno Research, reports that Honor was able to take third place in the Chinese market. Thus, it was behind only OPPO and Vivo, while beating out Huawei, Xiaomi and Apple.

True, there is no evidence of this. The source reports how many smartphones all but Honor shipped. Specifically, OPPO shipped 5.6 million devices, Vivo shipped 5.3 million, Xiaomi shipped 3.9 million, and Apple shipped 3 million. There are no figures for Honor.

Not only that, this information diverges from data of analytical agency Counterpoint. According to the latter, Vivo led the Chinese market with a share of 23% in the second quarter of 2021. OPPO Xiaomi and Apple accounted for 21%, 17% and 14%, respectively. Meanwhile, Huawei took 10% of the market and Honor took 8.4%.
