WhatsApp users slowed down Telegram

The WhatsApp outage has rather unexpectedly turned out to be a problem for the Telegram instant messaging service.

Today, gg editorial reported about a massive Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram outage. WhatsApp users then began migrating en masse to Telegram messenger, causing the latter to start working intermittently.

Telegram representatives were quick to reassure those worried. The messenger did start working slower due to the sharp influx of users, but it's still holding up.
