Back in May Google promised to make two-step authentication mandatory for users of its services. And now that time has come.

The changes will take effect next week, November 9, and the company has already started sending users relevant notifications. Two-step authentication means that to log into your account you will need not just the password you made up, but and a one-time password, which you receive in a

Stealing passwords is the most common way to break into accounts, especially since considering that not everyone tries to come up with a complex password. And Google's two-factor authentication is designed to combat this and improve security.
