Netflix adds short TikTok-style clips to the app's kids section

According to Bloomberg, Netflix will launch a new TikTok-inspired feature this week that targets younger viewers. The streaming giant is reportedly launching "Kids Clip" in its iOS app, which will show short video clips from its library of children's programming to help young viewers find something to watch. Bloomberg claims the feature is based on Fast Laughs, a comedy channel launched earlier this year.

However, unlike Fast Laughs, Kids Clips videos will be horizontal rather than vertical and will take up the entire screen. Also, kids will only be able to watch 10 to 20 clips in a row. Netflix will add new clips every day, based on current shows and movies available on the platform as well as future ones that will appear in the service's catalog.

Both features are part of the company's efforts to combat decision fatigue(!), which (!!) many of its subscribers suffer from. In October, Netflix also launched a random selection feature called Play Something to help viewers find something to watch based on their preferences, without having to scroll endlessly through the app.

According to Bloomberg, Netflix is still calling Kids Clips "test" and it won't be available to all users yet. It is currently rolling out in select markets, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland and Latin America.
