This year's The Game Awards will feature more than just video games

The Game Awards 2021 organizer Jeff Keeley promises that this year's awards ceremony will be truly spectacular. 40-50 announcements of new games coming out next year and beyond, the return of the band, non-game surprises and more.

In an interview with Epic Games, Keeley talked about the return of the public to the event and how this year's show will focus on the announcements and the games themselves, rather than the individual performances and stars that will be in attendance.

"Yes, it's great to have celebrities present, it's great to have music, but I think the focus on games is really important. Especially this year there's going to be a lot of content for 2022 and 2023. That's going to be our biggest set of announcements and world premieres. We've learned over the last year that it's the games and trailers that really matter, and that's what makes up the core of the show," says Keeley.

The number of announcements will be in the double digits, and most of them will be about the current generation of consoles, Keeley confirms. This year, half of the event time will be devoted to announcements and the other half, he notes, to awards. What's also interesting about The Game Awards 2021 is that there will be media announcements that aren't video game related, but related to game series and titles. Keeley also hints at a new category of awards related to just that - film and TV adaptations of video games.

The event itself will take place on December 9, 2021. All information currently available can be found at on the official website at The Game Awards. The announcement of the nominees will be possible to watch live on official YouTube channel tomorrow, November 16 at 19:00 Kyiv time (17:00 GMT).
