TheElec: iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will really lose "bangs" and get "leaky" screens

In 2019, Samsung introduced the flagships of the Galaxy S10 line, which were the first to receive "leaky" screens - panels with a round hole for the front camera. Almost 3 years have passed - and it seems that Apple has finally come to this design.

What does it mean?

TheElec reports that the 2022 iPhones will receive such front-facing cameras for the first time. This means that Apple, after many years, decided to abandon the traditional "bangs".

True, there is a nuance: according to the leak, only older models will have "leaky" displays - 6.06-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. The rest of the family, it seems, will retain their usual "monobrow".

Apple will also use low temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin film transistors (TFT) for OLED panels on Pro models. Entry-level models are not expected to offer LTPO screens and 120Hz refresh rates. LG Display will supply its own "leaky" OLED panels LTPO if Apple approves them.
