Two insiders reported that Samsung plans to switch from Android to Fuchsia OS

Back in May, a rumor appeared on the network that the South Korean company Samsung may switch from the Android operating system to Fuchsia OS. Now this information is confirmed again.

What is known?

Analyst Dohyun Kim is confident that Samsung is preparing to go over to the side of Fuchsia OS. But, according to him, it will take several years. Moreover, his words are confirmed by the authoritative insider Ice Universe, who has many useful connections, including in Samsung.

Recall that Google has been working on the Fuchsia OS operating system since at least 2016. It is an open source OS that targets a wide range of devices and offers many advantages over Android, such as ease of updating.

The first product with Fuchsia OS was the first generation Nest Hub smart display. In 2018, Bloomberg reported that in 5 years the new OS could replace Android, Wear OS and Chrome OS. In 2019, Google representatives confirmed that smart home devices were just a starting point for a new platform.

And some time ago Samsung began to contribute to the development of the OS. In addition, a few months ago, Google created the Fuchsia Devices team and began preparations to port the operating system to non-Google devices.
