AMD introduced Ryzen 7000 processors on Zen 4 architecture starting from $299

AMD has announced the Ryzen 7000 family of desktop chips based on the Zen 4 architecture, which will go on sale at the end of September.

Here's What We Know

The product line offers the buyers models with 6, 8, 12 and 16 cores, rated heat dissipation of 105 or 170 watts. The manufacturer notes the increased performance compared to the Ryzen 5000 processors. In particular, the specific performance per clock is increased by 13%, and overall - by 29% by increasing the peak frequency from 4.9 GHz to 5.7 GHz in single threaded mode.

The Ryzen 9 7950X chip was the flagship of the new generation. It was on average 40% faster than last year's top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 5950X model in demanding applications. In games the performance gain was 21% (Full HD). AMD also marks an advantage over Intel Core i9-12900K by 45% and 9% respectively.

Power efficiency of Ryzen 9 7950X compared to Ryzen 9 5950X is increased by 62%. Provided equal power consumption, the novelty is almost one and a half times faster (+49%). Comparing the new-generation flagship with Intel Core i9-12900K, the company notes a 47% superiority in energy efficiency.

The series, in addition to Ryzen 9 7950X, includes Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 5600X chips. All processors support multithreading technology. R9 models get 64MB of L3 memory and 170W TDP. R7 and R5 models have reduced heat dissipation to 105W, and third level memory has 32MB.

How Much Do They Cost?

Ryzen 7000 processors will be available on September 27th. The prices are listed below. New motherboards with AM5 socket will be needed for new chips installation.

  • Ryzen 5 7600X (6 cores, 4.7-5.3 GHz) - $299;
  • Ryzen 7 7700X (8 cores, 4.5-5.4 GHz) - $399;
  • Ryzen 9 7900X (12 cores, 4.7-5.6 GHz) - $549;
  • Ryzen 9 7950X (16 cores, 4.5-5.7 GHz) - $699.
