It seems that satellite communications support in gadgets is becoming a fashionable trend lately. We don't know if Garmin is following this trend or just continuing to produce gadgets for tourism, but the manufacturer's newest device is called the Garmin inReach Messenger.

Details

It is a compact gadget for sending text messages via satellite communication. The Iridium satellite network is used for this purpose. It connects to smart watches, navigators and other Garmin products, as well as iOS and Android smartphones through the proprietary Garmin Messenger app. The recipient of the message does not need to have the same device - just to install the app.

The device also has a small display for reading messages and navigation and an SOS button, which, when pressed, will connect the gadget to the International Emergency Response Coordination Center and rescuers and send them your coordinates.

The case has IPX7 protection and a single charge of the built-in battery is enough for 28 days of battery life.
