Sony Float Run: the original "external" earphones for athletes that don't even need to be in your ears

After the release of LinkBuds in the form of bagels, Sony continues to experiment with the design and shape of headphones. And the company's new original gadget is the Sony Float Run earphones.

Details

This time it's over-the-ear headphones (pun intended), designed for runners, athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Sony wanted the headphones to be as comfortable as possible during exercise, not to get in the way and not to fall out.

That is why Sony Float Run does not even need to be inserted into the ears - the main part with the speaker is placed near the ear canal and does not touch the ear. At the same time, the headphones are firmly fixed by the behind-the-ear ear pads, connected to each other by a flexible jumper.

Given this form factor, there is no active noise cancellation at all. But there are big 16 mm drivers, SBC/AAC codec support, IPX4 water protection and Bluetooth 5.0 connection. One battery charge lasts about 10 hours of battery life.

The Sony Float Run will be priced at $130 and will go on sale in February.
