WHSP Ring: a ring for "intimate conversations" with a voice assistant

Voice assistants are a handy thing, but often you have to say commands for them quite loudly. What if you want to keep your requests private so that others can't hear them? South Korean company VTouch has found a solution.

Here's What We've Seen

At CES 2024, which is taking place in Las Vegas these days, VTouch showed off the WHSP Ring. Only if the usual smart rings monitor the wearer's health and activity, this is needed to communicate with a voice assistant.

It is essentially a microphone made in the shape of a ring. It understands the whisper and transmits the command to the virtual assistant. And the ring has a built-in proximity sensor, so you don't need to press buttons - just bring the gadget to your lips and start talking (or whispering). You'll get a response through the headphones.

VTouch also offers its own programme with several AI assistants, including a 'creativity supervisor' or even a digital psychologist. There's even a button that, after five presses, will activate an emergency notification system for your contacts and record ambient sound.

The built-in battery provides 1.5 days of battery life, and together with the charging case, this time increases to 9 days.

The manufacturer plans to launch the WHSP Ring on Kickstarter in the near future, but so far there is no information about the price and sales start.
